Penci.ly for artists
Reference, palette and the series, side by side
Reference images, colour swatches, studies and the pieces they are feeding into, on one canvas. Put the palette next to the painting it belongs to instead of in a screenshot you will not find again.
Free while we are in early access, and free for life if you sign up now. No card.
What you can plan
A studio wall that does not run out of wall
The things you pin up, arranged the way you would arrange them, with the notes attached.
Reference boards
Drag images in, group them by what you are actually taking from each one, and keep the source link on the card.
Colour swatches
Build a palette as swatch cards on the board and keep it beside the piece it is for. Hex values are right there when you need them.
Series and sets
Lay out every piece in a series and see the set as a set, which is the only way to tell whether it holds together.
Studies and iterations
Keep the versions next to each other with a note on what changed, instead of a folder of files named final-3.
Commissions and deadlines
A card per commission with the brief, the reference the client sent and what is still owed, and a task list on the same card.
Sharing a board
Invite a client or an art director as a viewer, or export the board to PDF and send that.

Example workflow
From a pile of reference to a finished series
Pull everything in
Drag in the reference, paste the links, add the swatches. Do not sort it yet. The pile is the material.
Group it into pieces
Push related reference together and give each piece in the series its own area, with the palette it is using beside it.
Work a piece without losing the set
Open one piece into its own board for the studies and the iterations, and the series board stays a view of the whole series.
